چکیده

This brief technical note introduces PRZI (Parameterised-Response Zero Intelligence), a new form of zero-intelligence trader intended for use in simulation studies auction markets. Like Gode & Sunder's classic Zero-Intelligence Constrained (ZIC) trader, generates quote-prices from random distribution over some specified domain discretely-valued allowable quote-prices. Unlike ZIC, which uses uniform to generate prices, the probability is parameterised such way that its mass function (PMF) determined by real-valued control variable s range [-1.0, +1.0] determines strategy trader. When zero, behaves identically ZIC strategy, with flat/rectangular PMF; but when close plus or minus one trader's PMF becomes asymptotically maximally skewed extreme other price-range, thereby enabling act same as Shaver (SHVR) Giveaway (GVWY), both have recently been demonstrated be surprisingly dominant more sophisticated, and supposedly profitable, trader-strategies incorporate adaptive mechanisms machine learning. Depending on value s, will behave either SHVR, GVWY, hybrid part-way between two these three previously-reported strategies. The novel smoothly-varying has giving trader-agents plausibly useful market impact responses imbalances an auction-market's limit-order-book, also allows study co-adaptive dynamics continuous strategy-spaces rather than discrete spaces traditionally studied literature.

Asset Price Bubbles and Crashes with Near-Zero-Intelligence Traders

We examine whether a simple agent—based model can generate asset price bubbles and crashes of the type observed in a series of laboratory asset market experiments beginning with the work of Smith, Suchanek and Williams (1988). We follow the methodology of Gode and Sunder (1993, 1997) and examine the outcomes that obtain when populations of zero—intelligence (ZI) budget constrained, artiÞcial ag...

Zero-Knowledge Traders

We provide simple general-purpose rules for agents to buy inputs, sell outputs and set production rates. The agents proceed by trial and error using PID controllers to adapt to past mistakes. These rules are computationally inexpensive, use little memory and have zero-knowledge of the outside world. We place these zero-knowledge agents in a monopolist and a competitive market where they achieve...

Why Traders Need Ambient Intelligence

Trading is widely recognized as a stressful profession. Taking decisions under stress negatively affects both, the finances and the health of the trader. Providing support to increase the awareness of traders on their real levels of stress could significantly improve their performance and well-being. This paper surveys technology available that can be considered to provide such level of support...
